Christopher “Kit” Norton was born in 1942 in Paterson, NJ. He was an avid photographer, husband, and father of six. He enjoyed taking pictures of women, race cars, sailboats, and his family. Kit developed his love of photography from his father Charlie Norton who was both a student and personal friend of the photographer Berenice Abbott. In 1921 Bernice moved to Paris and learned photography by way of being the assistant to Man Ray. Her photography series Changing New York, funded by the Federal Arts Project, established her as one of the most influential documentary style photographers of her generation.
